I am a writer and soprano based in Seattle, Washington. Currently, I am a librettist with American Opera Initiative at Washington National Opera (2025/26). I write about people who yearn for belonging in worlds that never quite accepted them. I write about what makes me afraid and what makes me laugh.

I’m an alum of Seattle Opera’s Jane Lang Davis Creation Lab, Freehold Theatre’s Playwriting series, and Guerilla Opera’s Libretto Writing Lab. My libretti, influenced by my extensive education in voice and theatre, has been described as imaginative, women-centered, and “ripe for a stage.” On other stages, I play guitar and sing backing vocals for singer-songwriter Elizabeth Anne.

In 2019, I earned a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Central Washington University, where I performed with CWU Opera and studied voice with Dr. Gayla Bauer-Blaisdell. Before that, I performed with award-winning musical theatre companies in Portland, OR, studied abroad at the West End, and sang for former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama with St. Mary’s Academy’s Marian Singers.

Hi! I’m Hannah.
